High carbon steel is much different than stainless steel, and it will rust if not cared for. The number one most important thing to care for any high carbon steel knife is to never put it away wet. Always wipe it dry. If the sheath gets saturated, store the knife and sheath separately until the sheath is dry. If the knife will be in storage for an extended period of time, a light coat of oil or wax is recommended.
Patina High carbon steel will also be affected from contacting certain items. Potatoes, strawberries, marinades, seasonings, etc. can all etch the steel by their acidity. The blade will develop its own patina and character over time. It only adds to the unique beauty of it. However, if you develop deep rust, or etching a patina that you do not desire, send it to me. I can bring it back to its original state.
Sharpening I offer free lifetime sharpening for any knife that I have made, for the lifetime of the blade. I only ask that you cover the shipping (if necessary).
